Starwood Hotels Hits 200th Hotel Milestone In Asia Pacific

Powering ahead in Asia Pacific, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE: HOT) today announced it has surpassed the 200th hotel milestone with a flurry of recent openings in China, India, Thailand and Malaysia. Starwood continues to widen its lead as the largest operator of four and five star hotels in Asia Pacific with plans to reach over 320 hotels by 2014.

Carlson Opens Radisson Blu Hotel in Liuzhou, China

Carlson has opened the 260-room Radisson Blu Hotel Liuzhou.

With the addition of this property, Carlson now has 11 hotels in China with over 3,500 rooms. Radisson Blu Hotel Liuzhou will be the company’s seventh Radisson Blu hotel in China.

Radisson Blu Hotel Liuzhou is located in Liuzhou’s central business district, just minutes away from the railway station and a 20-minute drive from Liuzhou Airport. The hotel lies 90 minutes from the Guxiang hot spring and just over two hours from Yangshuo.

The Third Global Hotel Industry Cultural Forum and Gold Champion Award Presentation Ceremony took place in Shenzhen on 15 May 2011. At the ceremony, Traders Upper East Hotel was named the Best Business Hotel in China. This is the second hotel award the hotel has won after being cited "Ten Best Newly Opened Hotels in China" last year since its opening in 2009.

The forum was hosted by the Ministry of Culture of the People's Republic of China, the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television and the General Administration of Press and Publications of the People’s Republic of China. Jumeirah opens hotel in China

Jumeirah Group will open its first hotel in China today, tapping into the burgeoning hospitality industry of the world's second-largest economy.

The new 401-room Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel Shanghai in Pudong used the interior designers behind the Burj Al Arab, and is themed on "ancient Chinese elements of feng shui".

The luxury hospitality group had originally planned to open a separate hotel in the city, in a twin-tower development, as part of a management agreement signed five years ago. But that agreement was scrapped after a change in the building's ownership.

"We decided to exit," said Gerald Lawless, the executive chairman of Jumeirah Group, which is part of Dubai Holding and manages hotels including the Burj Al Arab.

"It will happen but not in our brand. We have chosen to go to another property."
