Greenway sold to luxury hotel group

ONE of the county's plushest country hotels has been sold after being marketed for a guide price of £3.5million.

The Greenway Hotel Shurdington has been bought by the Eden Hotel Collection.

The 17-bedroom manor house was previously owned by Von Essen Hotels Ltd, whose holding company went into administration in April.

The sale was negotiated by Christie and Co on behalf of administrators.

Eden Hotel Collection's managing director Mark Chambers said it was exciting times for the hotel, which employees nearly 50 staff.

He said: "Our plan is to bring the profile of The Greenway Hotel Shurdington back to where it deserves to be.

"It has been a difficult six months and I think it is important to give it a fresh approach and a new lease of life.

Clinton Inn Hotel in Tenafly, N.J., Completes Final Stage of Four-Year, $6 Million Renovation Program

Officials of the 119-room Clinton Inn Hotel, a historic, independent property in Tenafly, N.J., today announced the completion of a $6 million renovation program that spanned four years. The most recent phase focused on updating all guest rooms at a total cost of $1.6 million. The hotel is managed by Concord Hospitality, which oversaw all stages of the renovation.

Fairmont Hotels & Resort launches a new Sustainable Design Policy

In addition to promoting the use of highly recognized green building certification systems, Fairmont’s Sustainable Design policy also includes new environmental criteria and checklists for renovation projects and property retrofits, environmental consultation during the design brief and construction process, and the creation of a green build best practices repository for use by its hotels, engineers, developers, project leads and architects.

Fairmont Pittsburgh, a new hotel that opened last year, and The Savoy, A Fairmont Managed Hotel, which unveiled a multi-year restoration program this past October, were the brand’s first completed projects under the new policy.

Oshkosh City Center Hotel renovations planned

The owners of Oshkosh Premier Waterfront Hotel & Convention Center say they have secured $2 million in bank financing for a renovation project they hope to begin this spring.

Chhinder Gill and his cousin, Hardeep Arora, who operates convenience stores and rental properties in Appleton, have taken over ownership of the hotel after Gill and his brother, Nash Gill, agreed to divide two mutually owned hotels between them. Chhinder Gill maintained ownership of Oshkosh Premier Waterfront Hotel & Convention Center while Nash Gill took ownership of an Idaho hotel.

Arora said he and Chhinder Gill plan to meet soon with City Manager Mark Rohloff to begin discussions about a possible financial assistance package from the city.

West End Coast Hotel won’t switch to residential until after 2017, owners say

While the Coast Plaza Hotel & Suites has won rezoning approval from Vancouver city council to become a rental property with office space, the 269-room property said it will remain open as an operating hotel “until at least 2017.”

In a statement issued Thursday after council unanimously approved the application from Brook and Associates, Coast Hotels and Resorts said the rezoning will not take effect until the expiry of the lease agreement between the building owners and Coast Hotels sometime after 2017.

As part of the lease agreement, the owners of the property at Comox and Denman in the city’s West End have invested $6 million for building renovations that included installing 600 energy-efficient double-paned windows and upgrading the hotel’s roof and facade.

Coast Plaza Hotel & Suites has invested an additional $3 million in room upgrades and a renovation of the hotel’s 4,500-square foot ballroom.… Read the rest
